About Royal Persian Angora Chinchillas
Basically the Royal Persian Angora Chinchillas arn ´t a new mutation, because the first breeding efforts started already in the early 1960´s in Texas. The long haired mutation has never been interesting for the pelt producers. The first white mutation appeared in 1955. The genetics of Angora gene we believe is accumulativ.
Characteristic notes of the Angora Chinchillas:
The long hair of the chinchillas is ~ 6 cm and more, hair on face or/and on the tail ~ 8 cm and more, hair in the face and around the ears is considerably longer than hair of their forfathers. You can compare the appearance of the Royal Persian Angora Chinchillas to the Angora rabbits (apart from the ears and the tail) – only the appearance and in no case the keeping of chinchillas or their feeding. etc., this is the same as for all other chinchillas.
How the Royal Persian Angora Chinchillas will acclimatize in our geographical region we don´t know by now. Our Chinchillas live in an acclimatized, cool room in summer or in winter in a room which is heated if it is necessary. Or they live in a room with air conditioning with a separate coolant circulation ( not with a water cooling system, because than their would be a high air moisture and this would produce the growth of fungal and bacteria).
